Knowledge is Not Power

Hello,

I'm starting this post with a focus on education. This has to be an issue that interests millions of people! If you have a child or a grandchild in the system you need to be CONCERNED.
Education is not all its cracked up to be.

KNOWLEDGE IS NOT POWER

Unfortunately, I didn't know what to do when I graduated from grade 12. In 1970 women still did not have a great deal of choice in the career department. Many of them went to university to get their MRS degree. I 'chose' to become a teacher. Big mistake! Even though I loved my students and my job teaching ESL, I hated being poor and overworked. I hated the politics of the job. I hated the documentation and the endless paperwork. I hated not being able to tell people that I was a teacher. I hated being attacked for being a teacher. I was constantly on the defensive.
I discouraged my children (all three!) from becoming teachers.
I am so happy to be retired.
